PIGG’S PEAK, 24th February 2010: The UN Country Team undertook its annual strategic retreat in Pigg’s Peak from the 21-24th February 2010.
The retreat is a mechanism enabling leaders of UN agencies to plan together and determine a joint approach to the country’s development as well as to review progress in implementation of the joint UN Programme as outlined in the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF).
The 2010 retreat was timed critically between the ending of the 2006-2010 and planning for the next cycle that covers the years 2011-2015. For that reason it was an important time to reflect on the achievements and challenges of the outgoing programme and to set strategic priorities for 2010 and beyond.
Though Swaziland is not one of the One UN pilot countries, the UNCT is committed to a progressive programme to Delivering As One. The retreat considered strategies for enhancing UN coherence for effective support to identified national priorities in the new programming cycle. The meeting also agreed on an approach to the UNCT Joint UN Annual work plan and budget allocations.
As two new members recently joined the UNCT, an important part of the programme included some fun and games that were part of team building.
Members of the UNCT at the 2010 retreat were:
-
UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Musinga Bandora
-
UNICEF Representative Dr. Jama Gulaid
-
