During 2006, UNDP supported the Central Statistics Office (CSO) by
commissioning an assessment of the local area network of this government
department. The report coming out of this assessment is intended to identify
areas of future support of the CSO by UNDP in upgrading the existing
database software to such a level that statistical data can easily be shared
among the different users. It is also intended to identify priority training
needs of the key officers who will be responsible for the management and
maintenance of the CSO server.
Follow up activities to recommendations of this report will form part of
the CO annual work plan on the Poverty and HIV/AIDS Mainstreaming programme
for 2007.
